Menabrea Art Prize was born from the collaboration between Untitled Association, a non-profit association founded in Rome in 2010 to promote and develop projects related to contemporary art and Birra Menabrea SpA,
prestigious and historic brewery sensitive to the themes of artistic experimentation and design.
The theme proposed by Cura. on which this year the artists had to try was "MacGuffin as a bottle / a bottle as a MacGuffin".
The MacGuffin, a term coined by Alfred Hitchcock, is an object that seems to be of crucial importance and around which emphasis and action is created but whose meaning is shrouded in mystery and is not fully understood by the viewer. The prize's visual identity project arose from this principle: a hidden image that is revealed progressively but never completely, in a game of folds that remains an end in itself.
